Two Time World Champion – Stephen Robertson

Nordic Boats Mourns the Loss of a Fellow Water Ski Racer

Today the world of water ski racing has been shocked by the death of former two time World Water Ski Racing Champion Stephen Robertson of Australia.

Many thousands of people all over the world will be saddened by this news and thinking of Stephen, and his family who will be devastated by this event.

Stephen was training on the Hawkesbury River, ahead of the 50th Bridge to Bridge Water Ski Racing, with current World Champion Chris Stout.

Stephen became the World Water Ski Racing Champion in Spain 1999 and then again in the USA 2001. His brother Paul was World Champion in 1991 and brothers Barry & Johnny crewed for both Stephen and Paul in the infamous Firebird race boats. Stephen achieved a great deal more than those world titles and gave back a lot to the sport. He is from of one of the most well respected and talented water ski racing families in the world – The Robertsons.

2 Killed in Key West Crash

Two racers were killed Wednesday during the first of three race days of the Key West World Championships.

Owner/throttleman Robert M. Morgan of Sunrise Beach, MO, and driver Jeffrey Tillman of Kaiser, MO, died after their 46′ Skater Big Thunder Marine kited over and landed on its canopy. Rescue personnel jumped from a helicopter mere moments after the accident and worked quickly to extract them from the catamaran before a medical boat rushed them to shore. The men were then transported via ambulance to Lower Keys Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.

Nordic Boats sends our sincere condolences to the the friends and family of Robert Morgan and Jeffrey Tillman. They will not be forgotten.

Parker 300 Enduro

Randy Davis, and the Nordic Boats Race Team ran the Parker 300 Enduro hard last weekend! They started 47minutes behind the 1st place winner… and still came in second behind the winner by less than one lap. The Nordic 21 SR with a Mercury Racing 1350HP averaged 100mph for the entire Enduro! Check out more pictures of the Parker Enduro at OC Photographics.
